One of the great joys of having your own blog is that you can sometimes just randomly post stuff that makes you happy. Even if it has nothing to do with your subject.
A friend referenced “Carrie Fisher’s quote about beauty” and so I had to do some research. I found two great ones. Of the two, I found this one less frequently and I thought it warranted a little more attention.
I actually wanted to include the whole quote, but apparently the world no longer likes more than a few words. “‘We treat beauty like an accomplishment, and that is insane. Everyone in L.A. says, ‘Oh you look good,’ and you listen for them to say you’ve lost weight. It’s never ‘How are you?’ or ‘You seem happy!’” This is from an interview with Good Housekeeping.
The great Fisher made other famous quotes, including this one from her final Ask Carrie column in the Guardian:
“We have been given a challenging illness, and there is no other option than to meet those challenges. Think of it as an opportunity to be heroic—not ‘I survived living in Mosul during an attack’ heroic, but an emotional survival. An opportunity to be a good example to others who might share our disorder.”
She was quite a woman, Carrie Fisher. If you’re looking for a little inspiration, a search of her quotes is a good place to start. (Especially if you search for quotes about her gold bikini.)
