The holiday season is here, and many of us are shopping online. While most people usually remember to look for coupon codes, many people don’t know that they can earn rebates on nearly all their online shopping.
Here are the best online shopping rebate sites available right now. They all work generally the same way. You go to the rebate website, log in to your account, and then click through to the company from which you plan to order. At some point, you will receive a credit, either dollars or points, to your rebate portal account. Many of these sites will even give you a bonus when you sign up. In addition, some sites combine a coupon listing with their link through to the online stores, maximizing your savings. There can be some tricks, which my FinCon friend Abigail explores in this really useful article at her site, I Pick Up Pennies.
You may find that there is a higher rebate from one site or the other, or that one site has a store that isn’t featured elsewhere. Sign up for the following sites using the my special affiliate links below, then you can search via CashbackHolic to see which site is offering the best deals for you.
Full disclosure: These programs have some sort of reward for when your friends sign up. If you sign up through my links, I might receive bonus points or a small cash payment. I appreciate it – it helps keep this site up and running!
Ratuken is my favorite rebate site. It used to be called Ebates, and sometimes I forget and still call it that. I’ve earned over $3,000 from Ratuken, and it’s the first place I check when I’m shopping online. I’ve even installed the Ratuken extension on my Chrome browser, so a little window pops up to remind me when I’m at an online retailer that works with Ratkuen.
Ratuken is currently paying a $30 sign-up bonus with your first rebate!
Ratuken pay in cash, every three months, into your PayPal account.
I like Swagbucks a lot, too. Swagbucks awards points, which can be converted into gift cards for just about anywhere, or converted into cash via Paypal. Swagbucks is currently offering $2 worth of points as a bonus when you make your first $25 purchase. Swagbucks has a “SwagButton” that works with most major browsers, making it easier to earn Swagbucks. You can also earn Swagbucks by answering surveys, watching videos, and playing games.
You can redeem your Swagbucks for gifts cards or PayPal cash whenever you have enough Swagbucks in your account.
MyPoints was the very first online, money-making and rebates site that I joined. You can earn points by shopping, doing surveys, or watching videos. I’ve earned over $500 in gift cards from MyPoints. Join MyPoints and Earn Rewards
MyPoints can be converted to physical or electronic gifts cards, or PayPal dollars.
Mr. Rebates offers a $5 bonus with your first purchase, and generally higher payouts than the other sites. If you only have time to deal with one rebate site, I recommend Mr. Rebates. They only do rebates – no surveys or games or anything else.
Mr. Rebates pays via check, gift card, or PayPal with a $10 minimum redemption.
These four are the best online shopping rebate sites. There are others, but these four should fulfill pretty much all your online shopping needs without making your brain too full.
For a long time, I had a little sticky note on my computer reminding me to always go through rebates websites when shopping. With the handy little extensions for browsers, you can have a notification pop up any time you are at a participating site. I don’t advocate shopping just to see what sort of deals you can find, but you might as well get some cash back if you are shopping online anyway.
