This post is part of my ongoing Military Scholarships series. July is possibly the slowest month in the scholarship world, so if you don’t find much here, you can get a head start on some of the scholarships coming up in future months. (But be sure to check back, because I am always finding new scholarships and adding them to the various lists.)
Don’t forget to check out non-military scholarships, too. There are so many small scholarships out there! You can check your college’s website or one of the big scholarship search websites like Chegg, FastWeb, etc. It never hurts to haunt your college’s financial aid office, get to know the people who work there, read the bulletin boards, and ask for help.
Another thing you can do this month, if you’re eligible for need based aid, is file a financial aid appeal if your circumstances have changed since the 2017 tax return on which that need was calculated. Your financial aid office can help you figure out how to do the form. Even if all it does is turn some unsubsidized loan into subsidized, that’s a win and worth your effort.
